One Fine Clammy Day!

One fine clammy day, she was driving faster than customary. Not there was a rush to see a big cheese, despite she knew he was alleged to fly to Florence for work today and might be lynching up in air by now. But a fraction of her just so badly wanted him to be there. Illusions and her were like mirage to voyager. And now, sitting dejectedly staring out through the sheathing window watching her yeasty cup of latte. Surrounded by her close bunch, she just appeared to be like a loath of meat delimited by vultures. Not to disregard, they were people who shared a kinship. But the very moment she wanted to be lost in her Pandora world. Until she saw a honking car stopping at the lane. Her eyes could spot his sedan like an eagle that descries its prey. Her heart was pounding expeditiously leaving her tickled pink. She tried to make up a long Pharisee face but her eyes could hardly hide the ecstasy. And as he sat across her she was back to This world. Like gravity other from Newton's was strong enough to pull her back. Because veracity was sweeter than her chimera for now. If there was a scale of eternity she perceived to know him from the day of creation. How his presence made her aware of her every agitation. The falling strand of her hair, to what angle her lips should twist when she grins. How graceful she was trouncing her trenchant commotion. And then her head-trip was trammeled when she found herself facing the Red street signal and then she realized his presence around her was just another daylight nightmare and she continued to drive.
Oh! she is a walking dreamer, reality to her is just a phase. This human race is something she despises, she is a foot above this society now and spins a companionship in her head everyday. And if you want to see the beauty of her creation, you will have to live in that dungeon of rejection, see through her loss, walk through the obscured valleys to the roads that lead to shame, mortification to the level where your soul pleads to trade the conscience. But if you still hold on to the virtue and accept life in the face everyday, Only then can you look through the window of her cerebral creation.
She finally made it to her destination and marched towards the grave, of one she fancied to walk up the isle with. She dropped the bunch of flowers at the gravestone and her wet eyes filled the air with serenity and she whispered the pledge to withstand every tomorrow, but this time her soul was more than shattered and her words were mere hollow.
Yes!! the ashes of his beloved still floated in the sky. His breathe disowned him in the crash that occurred when Florence was still out of sight. For seven years she embraced the love that recollection of memories gave.
But ALAS! she lost the fight today and as the last pill went down her throat, the lady who fought despair with an iron heart, parted the mortal body on one fine clammy day.

  1. Bravo!! The vernacular, the progression, the character and the ambiance. And to think...to read this on a cool monsoon night and yet you suffused me with the smells and visions of a clammy day so seamlessly.

The last oeuvre certainly packs a punch and yet it ends with a light caress. Kudos Priyanka!
